Max B The Public Domain Rapper might soon be back on the streets. Mr. Wavy may wash ashore sooner than expected. XXLMag.com spoke with incarcerated rapper Max B’s manager, Joli O’Shay, earlier today (Mar. 19) and she says the Harlemite was recently granted an appeal in his murder case.

According to O’Shay, Max is now sitting tight as he awaits an actual appeal date. Once that comes in the MC known as Biggavelli, has a new lawyer to fight for his innocence. “He’s gonna try hopefully to go back to trial, or get it a mistrial or get it time served, whatever we can do,” she said.

As previously reported, Max was sentenced to 75 years in prison on September 3, 2009 for orchestrating a 2006 robbery that left a man slain in a Fort Lee, New Jersey hotel.

The former Jim Jones protégé was convicted of felony murder, aggravated manslaughter, kidnapping, armed robbery and conspiracy.

O’Shay, who speaks to Max daily, says he’s in good spirits about the appeal.

Now, Canadian artists have joined together to remix the record in an effort to raise funds for those still living in Haiti after January’s devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake. “I guess we’re all trying to somehow make sense of this world and the way it is, and why things happen to places and not to other places,” K’Naan told The Star. “I think in those times when we are questioning those things, we want to rid ourselves of the sadness, we want to do something. I wanted to do my part.”

5 Canadian artists, dubbed the Young Artists for Haiti, appeared on the song to offset the recent lack of news coverage surounding the island country. Drake, Kardinal Offishall, Nelly Furtado, and Avril Lavigne are just a few who appeared on the track. “It really is something when you hear everybody give the best of themselves to something. There’s this one line that the Broken Social Scene sing, it’s so beautiful. I think Drake really gave something to the song as well.”

The effort, which was spearheaded by legendary produer Bob Ezrin, is now available digitally.

Dr. Dre’s brand of headphones, Monster Cable’s Beats By Dre, have received some very high-profile product placement, from talk shows to music videos (Keri Hilson’s and Lady Gaga’s, just to name a few).

Now, some of sport’s biggest stars will be rocking the high-end headphones, as the entire Cleveland Cavalier team was given custom-made Beats By Dre gear.

According to ESPN.com, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Lebron James also teamed up with the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant to purchase custom-made Beats By Dre for every member of the East and West NBA All-Star teams. James also gave the headphones to his U.S. Olympic teammates in 2008.

“I had high expectations,” said Kevin Lee, Vice President of Brand and Business Development for Monster, of the headphones. “We surpassed my expectations. We released the Beats by Dre in 2008, and it took a good 12 months for it to hit the masses.”

Lee spoke of the line’s futristic and visually appealing side, but also noted their audio quality. “They give you full studio sound, because Dre is very particular about sound. It really does matter for athletes. That’s why LeBron and Kobe rock our headphones.”

“Athletes have always used music for some type of inspiration,” said Ryan Grant, Green Bay Packers running back and owner of Beats By Dre headphones . “We travel and do things that are active when we listen to music. We want the best product.”

Indeed, headphones are a worthwhile investment for athletes, according to Atlanta Hawks forward Al Horfor, who had a pair of blue and white custom-made Beats By Dre headphones with the phrase “El Jefe” (The Boss) inscribed on the side made for him and his teammates.

Other athletes who’ve had custom headphones made for themeselves include Chad Ochocinco and Nate Robinson.
